Default Re: What\'s Your Take on Ivey\'s Play?

I think Phil gathered a lot of his chips early on by making a lot of well-timed preflop raises and continuation bets and pushing more timid players off TPGK, draws, etc.

I think today that he ran into some actual hands that pushed back at him and it cost him a lot of chips.

This is just a guess. Of course it's based on only a few hand descriptions and random commentary, so who knows.

Wow, so many Ivey supporters in here. SOOOOOOOOO , how many of you bet $300 on Ivey to win ?

THAT'S WHAT I THOUGHT

[/ QUOTE ]

This may be the most ignorant statement I've ever heard. He doesn't win the main event so he SUCKS...nice logic.

That doesn't seem like a very smart bet. Did you make that bet earlier today? I hope you at least got decent (like 50-1) odds.

I took the Big 3. It was a dumb bet. I'm still alive, though.

Ya'll say what you want and I even think he tanked but...

If you listen to his "peers", those that play with him fairly regularly, they all have great respect for his game and presence at a table. He wins $$$ from his play and supports himself and his family. Good enough for me.

Any of you would walk a mile in his Teva's.

I'm getting sick of Ivey and his crazy looking expressions he has the table. He looks like a crazy man. I bet on him this time but I'll never bet on him again. He won that little US Poker championship or whatever and that's about it but what else has he won lately ? He dominated a 21 year old, D'Agostino. Congratulations, you dominated a 21 year old. He lost because he played like a moron. He didn't respect his opponents enough. He thought his opponent would just put all his money in with Ace high ?

Good job revealing the extent of your stupidity. Well played.

Oops. Meant 15-1. 50-1 would obviously have been too good to be true.

Looks to me like he just kept running into the nuts. Eventually he got a real hand and once he put enough money in to realize he was behind there was already too much money in the pot due to the huge blinds and antes. I think he was playing to make as much money as possible and not to just make the final table, though it is probable he put siginificantly more weight to 1st than bare EV would dictate. Who can blame him for that though considering the real value of first place for him is on the order of 20 million or more.
