Are you straddling or blind-raising? From what I've been told, they're different.

Does anyone on this forum actually play poker?

I sure do, and creating action is part of poker.

Your response has nothing to do with my post. Good luck with your action generation. If you were smart you would just blind raise from late position. Same action generation, same number of bets, but at least you get to act after your opponents.

I must be getting dumber this week as I do not understand this post either. Are you saying that I am a fish? At no point did I advocate the "action" that was going on in this thread.... just opining that the illusion of action can be generated in a much more neutral EV way.

Straddling, specifically straddling (or super-straddling) with the intention of loosening up the table for the evening can, when done at just the right time with just the right conditions, be a very +EV move.

To elucidate: More than once I've seen a single orbit of a straddle and super-straddle turn a tight-passive game into one of the loosiest, goosiest games you can imagine. With EXACTLY the same players at the table. Most SS players like to gambool... sometimes they just need an extra nudge to get there.

Straddling is fun. Sitting to the left of a nit and straddling every time it's his big blind is more fun. Doing so and having the table fold to you is great too.
