I've played in home games that the deck was found to be wrong in some way (usually a deck is swapped out and someone leaves a few cards in the box). It sucks, but everyone has been playing with the same deck, so it's fair. When you discover the problem mid-hand, the hand is dead. All previous hands stand.

Brett is a douchebag. I would not invite him back.

Always suite up your decks before you host a home game and check them before play starts.
