Re: Bill introduced to repeal the 22nd amendment of the Constitution
[ QUOTE ]
Nothing. Its the frequency that this party wants to do it that I have a problem with. And with what matters they think deem mucking with the Constitution. [/ QUOTE ] Fair enough, Kurto, but as you know, those Amendments haven't gone anywhere. If people want to change the Constitution and they fail like the Republicans have lately, then so be it. I don't favor any of those amendments, and most Americans probably don't either, so they failed. The system works. |

Re: Bill introduced to repeal the 22nd amendment of the Constitution
For each one of these amendments there's a significant number of Republicans in Congress, almost certainly a majority, that don't support these amendments. The flag burning amendment was proposed so long ago I can't even remember when. The amendment regarding marriage had little support in Congress and was basically political pandering. The proposal to repeal the 22nd amendment is not one that's being sponsored by the Republican party.
In reality amendments to the Constitution are proposed quite frequently in Congress: Amendment Info Not sure where the partys stack up on these but I think it's fair to say that Democrats have proposed at least a few. Doesn't mean that they have wide support of the Democratic party in the least btw. |

Re: Bill introduced to repeal the 22nd amendment of the Constitution
[ QUOTE ]
1. This amendment will never be passed 2. Even if it were passed, GWB would never run again 3. Even if GWB Bush did run again he would get slaughtered by Clinton (Bill) [/ QUOTE ] If it does happen, though, I would have a tape of the Clinton-Bush 'debates' running on a continuous loop in my house. I could cancel my cable. |

Whilst I tend to agree with you, similar views were held in Germany during the late 20's early 30's

Who Cares?
Apparently, a lot of people: but I don't think it's a big deal either way.
Is my life going to change substantially because some President gets 3 or 4 terms...maybe? I doubt it. If a President is popular enough to be elected for more than two terms I'm not sure I see the need to limit the terms. Then again, I don't see a reason to rescind the 22nd Amendment, either. Like I said, not a big deal either way to me. Undoubtedly I'm missing something, but that's probably not a big deal either. I think the checks and balances in the system would keep us from ever having a "Fuehrer"--and if they wouldn't, neither would the 22nd Amendment. So again, who cares. Re: Bill introduced to repeal the 22nd amendment of the Constitution
I think Bill can run again if he really wanted to -
doesn't it just limit you to two consecutive terms? - he could have done two, taken 4 off, and come back.... but now he'll let his wife have the job. RB |

I keep reading your response and keep concluding that you just don't understand what I find objectionable.
