Re: The ***New*** STEP Higher(s)
Interesting points have been made by all so far. Although the 100K prize at the end of the previous Step Higher Rainbow was extremely intriguing, I must admit to being more interested in the new format. I busted out 4th last night at level 3, but considered it to be a very important game. Obviously, if I had made 1st or 2nd last night, a serious money game would have been on the horizon. If I am fortunate enough to make it to 3rd or 4th on level four, I will definately play to win, but if I bust out I don't believe I will be extremely disappointed. It appears to me that the two worst places to bust on at level 4 would be 8th (just out of the money) or 5th ($1500 instead of $3000 by moving up just one notch).
Good luck all and see you later tonight (back at level 2, unfortunatly!) Les |

Re: The ***New*** STEP Higher(s)
This is definitely happening. 'oddsnmyfavor' is trying desperately to lose but keeps winning (with 3 left). It's pretty funny - especially his chat.

Re: The ***New*** STEP Higher(s)
Update: hilarious he actually won the thing with some weird rivered straights and 8 high hands! And the debate has started; did he want 3rd or not - I have to say he was simply calling (as opposed to raising) with the weakest hands possible.

Re: The ***New*** STEP Higher(s)
I wonder what the maths of this is.
1. If you have a big enough BR it looks like you can buy in to the Higher Step 5s for $3500 - $4000 (not quite sure how you'd facilitate this). Excluding any skill differences (I'm sure some 2+2 215ers would be at least better than average with all the qualifiers from the lower steps) that gives you an overlay of between $700 & $1200. 2. If at the Higher Step 4s you assume that 3 players are in fact aiming for 3rd place (I don't think that's unreasonable), then your expected return from these (assuming 1 above) is way more than the $2150 entry fee. I'm sure someone could run some numbers. Of course, you need 100k plus br |

Re: The ***New*** STEP Higher(s)
I guess they didn't get enough people in the old structure. I wonder if anyone actually bought in to the 15k.
