I sort of like it I guess because of all the LRR going on lately

There's a big difference between what Rob's doing here and the other recent LRR discussions. Rob wasn't intending on re-raising when he limped - he took advantage of an opportunity that presented itself.

I know it's different, and it's obvious it wasn't his intention in the beginning. I think it's a good idea only because of the added fold equity due to the number of LRR going on with really big pairs, especially since his plan is to play it like one.

If your read was that a LRR would gain FE against Villian - then I like. I just think you need to be careful as some will go to auto-call-down mode just to look you up - which may not be that bad if he's drawing to <= 6 outs.

Well said.

i think even if he draws one of his outs, say a T in ATo, or a 9 in A9s, if Rob keeps pressing, Villain may be inclined to fold anyways, i.e. he has to beat Rob's strongly represented hand as well as the guy all-in.

Do most non-thinking players respect LRRs?

That's the problem I have with this. You end up with a big pot on the flop. He is going to be getting odds to draw, and the sheer size of the pot will probably make him do so.

So the situation becomes you almost have to drill many of the turns. Granted the other side of the coin is this does not have to work that often.

hey D (happy belated b-day, btw),

my guess is most players are aware of their hand and they're kind of aware of aggression vs them, or passivity vs them. But not so much how the aggression or passivity translates to specific Hero holdings. Especially in marginal situations.

Why do we assume he's non-thinking?

It was more of a general question.

Great change of plans preflop. If you had limped anywhere else you couldn't do it. A more unthinking villain and you can't do it.

It also makes postflop very straightforward.
