I think the bettor is dumber.

All that shite...live straddle, dark check/bet, etc. is for idiots.

"I need to change my luck. I'll live straddle." Yeah, right.

Jeffage said: I just think betting the turn w/ such a strong draw is far superior to your line.

GoT said: Checking the turn is fine here a lot of the time.

Bob said: I agree with Guy.

I'm with Jeffage, and I dont think its close. This is a HU pot so bet because you might win. The only reason to not bet is b/c you fear a c/r, or because you thing villain will call then lead the river. Nothing in the betting pattern or your read suggests this is the case.

So I bet the turn and check the river unimproved.

If he only has 15 outs (and that's at best here), a bet here is not even close to being a good idea. Villian almost definitely caught a piece of that flop (unless he regularly bluffs into 2 opponents, 1 of whom raised PF), so there's no way I can believe Hero has a chance to win at showdown here without improving. Hero also determined (I think correctly) that he has little fold equity here, if any. If you have no fold equity and no chance of having the best hand right now, it's impossible for a bet here to be good. Also if villian is stupid enough to bet in the dark after you practically tell him "I have either AhKh or AhQh" then checking has extra value.

LOL.

The bet in the dark rarely serves any purpose.

A lot of donks at the Commerce get confused by it and will make terrible calls on the end in response to a dark bet.

Default I think THAT dark bet was dumb.

There are a few places where a dark bet is the most profitable line. This isn't one of them.

All the "donk" moves are correct at times, even straddles.

example 1: 3-handed 5/5 NL, must-move table. all players have at least $1500. I button-straddle.

I'm not very bright, so humor me. How is it not better to see your cards first? When given the choice of having info or not, I usually assume that having info is more desirable.

Yes, because apparently some people here never take free cards even when given the opportunity, when they know they're an underdog to win, and when they know their opponent isn't folding.

Here because it brings up an interesting move that can be done live. There because it brings up an interesting turn decision. Why do you often have to be such a prick? What is your point here? I respect your opinion about hands/strategy, but your posts are often smug and arrogant. Why?

Default dumbest dark bet ever?

2-5 no limit in vegas. There's an early raise to about $20 and almost everyone is in. SB makes it $100, everyone calls, and again it's like SEVEN ways or something ridiculous like that. Dealer (me) starts to burn the card and deal the flop, but before I can get it done the SB says "in the dark" and goes all-in.

Flop is of course ace high. THREE players hold an ace, the small blind of course has pocket KK, and everyone else has draws. Enormous pot, like 1200$ or so, goes to ...

Pair of aces, queen kicker.
