Re: Is my girlfriend right?
I'm saying if you check, UTG+1 bets, and UTG+2 raises, and it's two back to you. Do you really expect to win enough of the time to make that crying two bet call +EV?

Re: Is my girlfriend right?
depends on UTG+2
against typical players i don't - if i have a read of super aggressive or really good player i probably do in this hand i would fold anything but the ace, king, or queen (jack if i'm frisky) to the raise |

Re: Is my girlfriend right?
Bingo.
A player would have to be a TOTAL donk to bluff raise someone who just came alive on a 4-flush river. If UTG+1 had been the one betting the whole time, and THEN UTG+2 raises, that's a different story. But if you check, UTG+1 bets, and THEN UTG+2 raises, I think that it is an incredibly smart and safe laydown on your part. |

[/ QUOTE ] A good player might raise in this spot with less then a flush hoping that we fold (we would bet if we had a big flush) and that other dude was betting as a bluff and folds. This is one of those situations that a good player might raise to prevent us from overcalling. A poor player is going to have a flush if he raises. While he might not have the nuts, he will have something that beats us. Brad |

Re: Is my girlfriend right?
I really don't think the pot is big enough to call two cold here. I just don't. One, yes. Two. no.

Err this is incorrect. UTG+1 could easily be betting as a bluff in this spot. Poor players will fire away in this spot fairly often with nothing but a pair. Brad Edit - This is assuming that UTG+2 is a good player. |

Re: Is my girlfriend right?
[ QUOTE ]
Check-call. If it's checked through, and you lost two BB's on the river, then who cares? You really don't want to fold your set here, so why not check-call, hoping to induce a bluff? [/ QUOTE ] What he said. Seeing showdown is g00t. Looking at a scary flush board most of the usual donk calling hands are going to fold so there's not much (if any) EV to be gained with a bet, so save it and use it if you have to for the showdown. |
