Oddly enough my GF and I were discussing something very similar to this yesterday while we were listening to "When I'm Gone" in the car.
3 Doors Down has the exact opposite problem as the Goo Goo Dolls. Every song you hear from 3DD on the radio is harder, fast paced, and sounds ok. When you listen to one of their albums, though, all the other songs are filled with vagina rock. Personally, I don't think they're very good all in all, but I do think When I'm Gone is one hell of a song.
