Re: Weird Satellite: 50% of field advances! Strategy??
Successfully folded my way to main tourney!!
It took 1:20 for the bubble to burst, and it was getting a bit scary at the end, but it turns out I was never in any real danger. I finished 208, and 221 advanced. I could have lasted a few more orbits, but I pushed with a decent hand. Everyone at our table was letting clock run out almost completely before the bubble burst. It was pretty funny. The big stacks were actually giving money to the small stacks, which could have messed up my plans I guess. Thinking more about it, I believe the only way (besides collusion) for a fold-all player to NOT finish in the top half is if most of the opponents are aware that some are not just uber-tight, but in fact always folding. Then these observant players would have to go after the fold-allers' blinds and not go after each other. But there are too many mediocre players out there to have such a scenario happen, especially online. -ptmusic |

Re: Weird Satellite: 50% of field advances! Strategy??
Damn, quick bust in main event. SB seemed like a pretty weak player - calling down with just a gutshot, etc.
This was also a college tourney, so I figured he was likely gambling it up with any mediocre hand when he went all in with a slightly above avg stack. I look down and see KK and call with my slightly below average stack. As I suspected, he did not have AA. He did however, have AQ offsuit, and caught an ace. The End. -ptmusic |
