Re: A previously \"well-respected\" MTT cheating team...
It's not an SNG, it's an MTT, and they're not at the same table (voluntarily).
It's a grey area. I can see both sides, but personally, I don't think it's cheating online, if only because it's absolutely unenforceable. Incidentally, any site that thought this *was* cheating would find it very easy to write their software to block the same IP (two people playing from the same house) from being seated at the same table in an MTT until the final table. So far, none have done so. (edit: 'not cheating because it's unenforceable' is weak...meh. If I HAD TO take a side I'd say it's wrong, but on the same level as pirating MP3's. I know when I play the same multi as a buddy, it's difficult not to tell him how to get himself out of a tough spot when he asks.) |

Re: A previously \"well-respected\" MTT cheating team...
Why police all internet homes when you have a self-admitted cheating team right here? Why not immediately freeze the accounts of those involved and make restitution to those they've cheated?
Why not inform other sites of this issue and have them take a look at those accounts? |

So, what is your sugestion to police all the internet homes? [/ QUOTE ] I think that everyone who plays online should be required to get (or poker sites required to send) a video feed. They are then required to set the video feed up and send it to the poker sites to prove that they are following the one player, one hand rule. Also, I think that people who share hole cards understand that they are cheating. I don't have time to search the archives for some RPG poster (what is RPG?), but if you search for Poker ethics in this forum, you will find our discussion of this issue (one player per hand). Again, congrats on your first post being an accusation of cheating and welcome to '4'. But we don't call it '4', we call it 2+2. Do you see why? CSC |

Re: A previously \"well-respected\" MTT cheating team...
It wasn't an accusation.
It was a presentation of fact. The cheating part is the subjection of opinion. If people admit to doing this on-line, then it is 100% clear. If you are at the WSOP, and I say... "i dont know what to do, let me go and ask Phil Ivey".. would you think that is fair? Read the blog and read the archives. Dont let the fact that this is originating from RGP disuade you from condeming this... that is a side issue. |

One more time...this isn't an accusation. This is reporting a confession of cheating.
Congrats to you for not caring. May they scam you in your next game. |

So because it is online and unenforcable it is alright in your book? Try and get away with this crap in a B&M game and see how far you get. I am completely appalled at the apathy of the majority of responses. (Yes this is my first post so flame away. I'm sure that will be the focus of your responses rather than the topic here.) |

Re: A previously \"well-respected\" MTT cheating team...
There will be no solution to this on 2+2... but I guess the primary purpose is to make people aware of this.
That someone of his status in the poker community can consider it "FAIR"... doesn't bode well for future peoples perception of acceptable behaviour. |

Re: A previously \"well-respected\" MTT cheating team...
ok, but first please respond this.
You have never, ever, given advise or received it while playing a hand in the internet. Is this correct? |

Re: A previously \"well-respected\" MTT cheating team...
[ QUOTE ]
I don't think it's cheating online . . . [/ QUOTE ] . . . because no site that I know of has one player to a hand rules. Jerrod alludes to this in his blog. This is a rule in lots of B&M establishments but I don't think that it is online. So strictly speaking it's not cheating. Many poker players would probably still consider it unethical though. And because they do occasionally encounter each other at the same tables, it seems like there are going to be situations where the fear of collusion is strong. |
