Default Re: Blind structure

When I played live poker at the Holiday Inn Great Canadian Casino, we would often set up "must straddle" games to get the games juiced up. At times, the line-up of players would be such that the straddle in fact had the effect of generating less action. I therefore suggested a "must call UTG" game and that worked great to generate action in what would otherwise have been a tough table.

So yes, I would really welcome a game with 3 blinds but my preferred structure would be 10,10,and 15 in the 15 games. A 5/10/15 structure would see the guy with the $5 blind hardly playing any hands.

Ya, I highly recommend the "must call UTG" game. Only thing though is that it requires some cooperation from all the players to make it work. For example, if a guy wants to go for a smoke, take a piddle etc., he has to either get back before his UTG hand comes up (to put his must call bet out there) or he has to stick out a whole round. So, if he misses his UTG hand to go powder his nose, he has to wait until he is UTG again to come back in. But the casino will make him post the big blind and small blind because he would have missed his regular blinds the previous round. Therefore, the arrangement we had was that the winner of that pot would return the small blind to our man who just returned from the can.

It all sounds complicated but actually it's quite simple in practice *SO LONG* as everyone understands the spirit of the arrangement and co-operates in its implementation.

Of course, the "must call utg" game is not the same as the 3 blinds game because UTG does not have the option of raising (unless you can somehow get your casino to agree that he can). Our casino would not allow that. UTG can make it 3 bets but not two.

Anyway, see if you can pull it off at your local barn. great structure IMO.

Currently:
22 30/60 tables
54 15/30 tables.

Where will this balance out?

Why are there so few? I've wondered about this before. Does Party limit the number, or is there just no one who wants to play 15/30 6m? Neither of those possiblities makes much sense to me.

So you're saying that they do limit the number of 15/30 6max tables? Then shouldn't the waiting lists for the few they have be really long? The few times I've glanced at it, there were only a couple tables with fairly short lists (I think) which would seem to indicate a lack of demand.

The wait lists don't end up long because people who want to play short handed just manufacture their own short handed tables with regular tables then leave if it fills up. Look at the number of regular 15/30 tables that have 6 or less players sometime. There are quite a few of them.
