How many outs do you think we have, on the average?

Maybe I just pasted the wrong quote for my initial reply, because without attempting to calculate odds, my thoughts would be as follows:

[ QUOTE ]
The times that you are reverse dominated, will get c/r on the flop, are already up against a flush or will have to dodge a spade on the river when you hit one of your outs on the turn = fold.

Closing the action, do you call?

I'm just interested in the threshold because I think it's closer than bakku determined, though, like I said, I'd probably fold (for the reasons bakku stated).

I do think 15:1 is enough to peel, but there's more to a flop peel than that.

2 posters, 2 limpers -- why not? Just curious.

keeps the pot smaller and the flop simpler. this is actually straight out of hepfap i think actually. but i think they use AJo or AQo in that example.

[/ QUOTE ]

"Closing the action" in this particular situation would mean the SB bet, and then 0-4 players called before the action came to me. In that case, I would likely fold if at least two others called, I would possibly call if only one other person called, and I would likely call (or even raise) if everyone else folded.

They use AJo, but I don't think they mention two people posting their blinds. Not sure how much of a difference this makes, but isn't the potential for dead money > the need to keep the pot small?

I hate these situations. Obviously folding is easy, but I'm still not sure that it's the most +EV play.

If you've got around 3-4 outs and you're going to be rivered ~30% of the time, you need about 17:1 to call here, I'm guessing, so maybe just folding and not dealing with the headache is best. I dunno.

Would you do some math and tell me that folding the flop (closing the action) getting 15:1 would be correct so I can leave this thread happily? I really don't feel comfortable in the 17:1 number I posted.

Man, sleeping pills suck. Actually, they rule, but they make me suck at poker.

I just reread the hand and the action and I'm folding the flop. So yeah, meh.

i laugh at all you math players.

that is all.

but generally bakku and i see eye to eye on everything, except when he's wrong, which isn't the case here.

but to try to attempt to answer your question seroiusly,

you have 2 overcards plus a backdoor straight draw on a monotone board.

how good are your overs? on this board, not that good at all honestly. i'm going to say you have somewhere between 2.5 to 4 outs on the flop and you have to dodge redraws and of course the flush draw. folding isn't giving up much if at all, while calling is marginal at best and could end up costing you a lot. no, that wasnt math involved, but like i said, i laugh at you math guys.

and btw, if you didn't raise preflop you'd only be getting 7.5-1, making this an easy fold.
