I like Zito to lead the A's to victory. He has struggled lately but the DRays are quite bad.

I think Zito will do fine.

I also like the over on H+R+E in the Dbacks game. Vazquez got hit hard in his first start, and I predict the same will happen tonight.

Figures. O's get Johnson but the bullpen can't hold it. I'm going to need my other 3 games to come through to keep this from being a really bad day.

You have to stop talking yourself into betting on the Orioles every day.

[/ QUOTE ]

Bingo. The Orioles have a fantastic offense, but zero pitching. Their only quality starter is Lopez, and the rest of them suck. And their bullpen is even worse.

[/ QUOTE ]

Obvious yankee fan crap. The bullpen has started very badly, but I expect it to be one of the better by mid-season. Kline and Reed have had lots of success in the past. This first week I'm just putting down as just a blip on the radar for them.
How many runs did the Yankees give up yesterday? Yeah. And you talk about pitching? The Yankees will really regret that Wright signing. Brown is always injured. Mussina is on the decline, Johnson is old, and Pavano is unknown right now.

You're just mad that you made a crappy bet. I understand.

And diss our rotation all that you want. You know that you would trade yours for ours in a heartbeat.

I think yanks come ready to play tomorrow

[/ QUOTE ]

I sure hope so.

If they all show up at the ball-park and then say,
"but wait....were not ready to play yet" then I would be pretty concerned.

Does this mean that the Orioles will NOT be ready to play for some reason?

The cliche of being 'ready to play' is sometimes appropriate I think...particularly regarding a lackluster performance in football or basketball by a team. I think it's fair to say "we just weren't in the right frame of mind. we weren't 'ready to play' and that's why we lost."

However, I don't think it applies to baseball as much....and I certainly don't see how an outside observer can make a determination such as "I think they come ready to play."

This isn't just nit-picking btw.
I think this a dangerous approach to take for a sports-handicapper because that kind of mentality..that you can actually have a hunch that they will come 'ready to play' can lead to talking yourself into or out of certain bets.

Maybe it's just semantics and this is not any different than "Yankees had a day-off and are rested....and with RJ on the mound I like their chances."
But 'ready to play' just rubs me the wrong way for whatever reason.
