Doesn't sound very fun.

I don't know if I've ever seen a military ad that says, "Come join the Marines, it's a lot of fun!"

[/ QUOTE ]

They may not say it in those words exactly, but some of the commercials to tend to give the impression that you can have a ball in the Army.

And I have no doubt that people in the military do in fact have fun sometimes. I read a book by an Afghanistan/Iraq veteran (can't remember the name) and he details some of the crazy pranks they played on others while he was serving. But the point is, I don't believe that the military was ever intended to be as fun as other jobs. "I wanted to have fun." probably isn't the answer given by many recruits when asked why they joined.

maybe the reason that we have recruitment shortfalls is that Clinton did all he could to destroy the military, thus, near the end few were joining, now, under Bush, who is trying to rebuild it, perhaps the recruitement goals are higher, but the numbers enlisting are about the same?? i am not sure, this is more a question if anyone knows the answer.

How exactly did Clinton destroy the military? I've heard this many times before but it's never explained.

I could say that Bush is destroying it[the military] now, by getting so many troops killed.

1.) cut personel by 15%, the same cuts that the evil witch Clinton was complaining about a few months ago, the ones her disbarred husband instituted....

2.) consistently tried to lower funding, succeeding while his liberal cohorts controlled congress, yet repulsed, to some extent when the republicans gained control. however, during clintons adminitration, the defense the department was consistently underfunded.

3.) Clinton willfully attempted to destroy the morale of the military in my opinion. from pointless and reckless assignments to policies that pissed off the troops

4.) cut 293,000 reservists

5.) cut two reserve divisions

6.) cut 20 Air Force and Navy air wings along with approximately 2,000 combat aircraft;

6.) cut 232 strategic bombers;

7.) cut 13 ballistic-missile submarines with 3,114 nuclear warheads on 232 missiles;

8.) cut 500 ICBMs

9.) cut four aircraft carriers

10.) 121 surface-combat vessels and attack submarines, plus all the support basing, transport and logistic access, tanks, armored fighting vehicles, helicopters, etc.

"Is it necessary to point out the tragic irony that the same administration responsible for this unilateral disarmament of the United States is responsible for helping Beijing modernize its military communications and nuclear targeting of American cities with illicit transfers of sensitive technology?" http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/ar...TICLE_ID=36185

Those all look like good cuts to me. Put the money into more worthy endeavors, like the VA.

It's ridiculous to say that cutting the military budget is treasonous.

I think that might depend on to what extent it is cut.

Also notice that jaxmike wrote "almost treasonous", not "treasonous".

im not a liberal, thus what I wrote is up for revision by liberals.

further, I feel Clinton was complicit in the selling or transfer of top secret information with the Chinese. If my feelings are correct about this, he would, i believe, be guilty of treason. if history were honest, it would look back on Bill Clinton as the single worst leader in the history of our nation.
