Howdy!

3 months worth of rent proof is enough, hell offer to pay for 3 months up front for a 3 month agreement, if it really winds up being an issue (likely not).

I wouldn't stay in the dumps with anything valuable in the stratosphere and beyond part of the strip, that is really the start of a bad section of town. [the stratosphere itself is ok though]

Best of luck, I love it here!

Anything in particular about summerlin and the lakes that make those areas particularly appealing?

I just got back last night from Vegas. I looked at some houses in Pecolle (near the Lakes area). 3br/2bath sngle family homes--$400k.

The Lakes/Summerlin Area is nice because it's away from the strip and it's a newer part of twon. I've also hear people say that Henderson is good too.

To the dude that was going to stay in a $99 a week dump. Don't.

In my younger single cheap days I would stay in those type of places on Fremont east of the El Cortez to save a buck. I got lucky--nothing bad ever happened. But you don't want anything valuable with you. And I hope you enjoy waking up in the early mornings to the sounds of drunks, police sirens, hookers, pimps and drug dealers...

haha right around El cortez, thats so true...

The lakes/summerlin area & the newer part of henderson, to the best of your knowledge is missing that type of crowd?
Considering the apartment complexes around those 3 areas...
This is what ive been told, did you see it to be true while you were around there looking at houses? [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]

Btw, whenever I'm seriously interested in a town, I try to get hardcopies of the local yellow and business white pages. They're really handy to have. If you know anyone driving to LV ask them to bring you back copies.

there's this thing called "the internet"....

Not for most of us driving around in or out of a new town with our stuff in storage and wanting some info. quickly.

I did mention online phone directories earlier in my message, but my point about the hard copies is their practicality and portability make them an asset worth having ahead of your move, if you can get them easily. Once you're there, they're easy enough to pick up and still valuable, especially when you're living in temporary digs.

btw, I like the A.L. avatar.

when I was a kid we moved to vegas and back in a few months. On the way there we used the big Mayflower and had are stuff shipped by a driver, and on the way back we did it ourselves. I reccommend getting the Mayflower truck to pick it up and take it there for you, save yourself the hassle, and it doesnt cost too much more.

I have Verizon and upgraded to Nationwide so I could get calls in Vegas - I've had great luck with them in Minneapolis, no guarantees in Vegas - I did have a crackly call in the poker room at the IP, but that is sorta back there in the middle of millions of dollars of metal and electronic crap.
