Get up every hour or so and walk around. Limit the hours you play. When you don't feel like playing anymore....quit. I see so many guys playing with me at midnight way up, I go to bed and come back the next morning and they are still playing. Only now they are playing a much shorter stack. Just last week I was playing a 5/5 NL game and quit around 2am up 1000+, there was another guy there who had me covered and was a very good player. Guess what? I went back in the poker room about 10am and he was still there sitiing behind about 200 now. A buddy of mine who also played all night said he had rebought a couple of times at 300 a pop too! If taking buddies dictates how long you play then don't take them. Bottom line, part of being a good player is knowing when enough is enough.

Then I just got bored, I start calling everything pre-flop. For some reason I wanted to see their reaction when I crack their aces with 24 os.

I stopped reading your post after this. This clearly belongs in the psychology forum.

Thanks for all the helpful comments.

I will set goals. Just sitting down and playing is not going to be my mantra anymore. I will start keeping record books, and try to set a record each time I play. I found out that when I play tourneys in casinos, I never lose my focus. I can fold 30 hands in a row, because of my goal of placing high.

I will certainly buy an IPOD, I hope I don't lose some action because of it. I saw this one guy who was reading a book and listening to an ipod, clearly just waiting for good hands. I can't believe how much action he got.

To those who tell me to stop playing, I actually love playing poker. And just like everyone, I am a winning player, and trying to be even more winning!

Thanks for the help everyone

KEEP IMMACULATE RECORDS !!! Win or lose, at least be honest with yourself. I started playing in 2000, I thought I was hot $hit. I started keeping records in 2001. Ouch, what an eye opener! The one thing that has helped my game more than anything else? Accurate and honest record keeping! When you know that you are going to have to record how your sessions went you will play better (worked for me anyway). You won't get ahead and then start gambling, you'll tilt less (if at all), you won't play 20 hours straight trying to get even. Etc,etc......... Keep those records!

I find myself being social with the folks on my end of the table. Having someone to chat with helps keep it from getting bad.

I also keep an eye on the TV, since a sporting event is usually on.

Hell, a month ago, at about 3am, we started placing $1 bets on who would win the next TNA Wrestling match.
