That standard deviation is pretty typical for this game [$500 in party 15].

[/ QUOTE ]

Fair enough. Although if my VPiP% is 15 and the party average is over 25, than I figured my deviance might be less than standard. $500 is still unsettling with 5k I must admit.

I have 5k in my account playing party 15-30 exclusively. To add a question to the more experienced at this level: how significant, from your experience, is the risk of going broke with such a bankroll (175 BBs) assuming tight play (VPiP=15) and a win rate of $50 ish an hour (playing 3 tables)?

[/ QUOTE ]

Substantial, particularly if you need to ask.

I am not sure what you mean by my needing to ask. I am merely wondering how often you lifetime winners who hold onto 10k (for party 15) lose half of it on a strench of cold cards. If the answer is "almost never" or "once a year," then I'll feel more comfortable with my 175 BBs.

[/ QUOTE ]

scrub's point is a good one. your post implies you don't understand the relationships between variance (std. dev.) and RoR as applied to bankroll.

to speak specifically, i make north of 400/hr and lost 10k in 4 days in jan.

do yourself a favor and physically DO you personal ROR with those inputs u stated. it will be quite high.

I was looking for real examples of experienced players and the swings they experience, not snide comments. Abstact percentages aren't as comforting as real experience. Anyways, if you make 400/hr, you're not even playing party 15, so thanks for nothing I guess.

Why not just have a bunch in neteller. That's what I do. Always 15k backup there and plenty of money that could be moved if I needed it. Why would you want to keep SO much onsite?

[/ QUOTE ]

I agree--it seems risky to have that much in a poker site, and it seems like a waste not to be getting interest on the money.

[/ QUOTE ]
I think that your reluctance to keep unecessarily large sums of money on a poker site is very reasonable. But is keeping it on neteller that much better? Aren't they also based outside the US (meaning that those of us in the US would have little legal recourse were they to abscond with our funds)? Don't they also not pay interest? I can see that keeping some of your money on neteller and some on Party (or wherever) could be a good hedge against something happening to one or the other, but is neteller really that much safer? This is an honest question and I don't mean to imply that they are not.

[/ QUOTE ]

I don't leave money in Neteller for the same reasons.

If I take a big slide I'm willing to play a smaller game or fewer tables until I move money back from real bank accounts.

I wrote that not intending a challenge. I wrote it in response to his point that I don't play the 15. I have zero incentive to pick fights, and am not trying to.

Hehe, well if you read my first post, 5k is all I have devoted to the poker world right now. Would be wierd if I were risk-adverse enough to worry about 5k in the party 15 but sought out HU match-ups for my whole bankroll. I ain't "rollin' up a stake and headin' to Vegas" anytime soon.

Also, unfortunantly I'm unlike to "find you on the 15" on NY-time nights. I play evenings UK-time nowadays. I wonder, why play party 15 when you can make 400/hr somewhere else?
