Re: What is the lowest live limit a player could live off?
I grew up in Westchester and now I live in NYC so maybe I have a different idea about what kind of income you would need to live off of than was intended by the question. I've never heard this 30k/year standard but for me that wouldn't be near enough to consider playing poker for a living.

Re: What is the lowest live limit a player could live off?
I good player could probably make $200 a day playing 2/4 or 3/6. The play level is pretty bad, so you could probably average a lot more BB/hour than is standard for bigger games.
However, if you could beat the 3/6 that well, you would probably make more playing 10/20. |

Re: What is the lowest live limit a player could live off?
Like everyone said, it depends. I will throw one more thing out there though. Say you played low mid limits in Vegas. Something like $6-12, 8-16, 10-20, and maybe a little 15-30. Say you could average $15 an hour out of these games and due to there being several casinos that offer these games, it was not a problem to find a beatable game 50 hours a week. So that is $750 a week. There are nice clean apts in vegas available for $500-600 a month and near the strip. So say you have a further nut of 500 or so for food, gas, car payment, and car insurance. Obviously you could live off what you make. I know that this ignores a lot(health problems in particular), but point is that it could be done.
