Come on guys, haven't you noticed that the Matador is simply biting off the other poker "god" Teddy KGB?? That's the same way he shows Mike his cards when he busts him in the first scene in Rounders.

Probably, lol. I think you see this in the movies and TV because it's the easiest way for the cameras to see the cards.
