Since this has turned into a pretty good discussion on when to value bet, say i do and it comes back. Then what?

...and it comes back -- raised? Who raised? The passive SB checkraised? The overaggressive CO waited until the river then raised, and the SB folded? Spell the scenario out for me.

Muck against a typical player, i'd imagine. (They hit their trip 7s on the river.)

I agree, definitely a good value bet on the river.

I'm sorry, but I can't agree with you here. There are quite a few PFR hands that will simply call you here. If you won't accept anecdotal evidence then there isn't much else I can offer; in the last 30k hands I've made tons -- tons -- of value bets like this on the river, and it's added substantially to my winrate. I'm sure that you could ask this question to every winning player here, and 99.9% of them would advocate betting the river.

Doubt it, but ok. I guess I'm in the .1 percent then. There's lots of places where value betting on the river makes sense. This isn't one of them. The risk/reward for this particular situation isn't sufficent.

I imagine other winning players will post and we'll see what the consensus is.

Just for general reference, it's usually not a good idea to be in the .1% of people who miss a clear value bet on the river.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying I don't value bet the river often, just not often where it's likely to be a spilt pot and I win .5BB or lose 1BB.

If you were closing this and there was a bet and call in front of you would you raise it for value also?

If it comes back with co raising and sb rerasing, i'm not going to call. So here my take on the other more tricky problems.

Hand A, Co folds and sb c/r. I'd be looking at folding.

hand B, co calls and sb c/r. Again i'd fold.

hand 3 co raises an sb folds, i'd call

hand 4 co raises and sb calls, i have no idea?

fold preflop.

Still don't get this. Seems ludicrously tight to fold Axs in the BB for one bet here.

with a limper present, I think the assumption is that CO will be slightly tighter than steal raise standards here.

As has been said, I think it's read dependent.
