Re: Is it bad manners to raise playing B&M?
I must admit I have fallen into that "nice guy" syndrome when I know I have the guy beaten.
Doesn't happen often but if im heads up with the guy next to me and we have had a nice chat for a couple of hours while playing and I have the nuts the extra $10,$20 or $30 doesnt mean as much as the company. To me its not worth it. |

In a Foxwoods 5/10 kill game, I saw a woman just call heads up on the river with quads. [/ QUOTE ] Perhaps she was afraid that someone else had the same quads with a better kicker. |

Poster: Vollycat Subject: Re: Is it bad manners to raise playing B&M? Sorry if this post is a frequent question--I don't spend as much time in this forum as I should. Playing live last night, which I have only done a few times, and I was amazed at how often the river was not raised/re-reraised when a player holds the nuts. This happened sveral times. Of course this was from people holding any face, connectors, etc. Also, this is a small casino where most of the players know each other. Were they just being social, is it bad manners, or are they just plain not good? In one pot (against me) a lady had a full house and she called me on the river (she checked the turn when she had the boat already!!)....what is up with that? [/ QUOTE ] Where do these retards come from? |

Re: Is it bad manners to raise playing B&M?
The phenomenon is quite common. One hand at a 4/8 game at Caesars IN I held T [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]T [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] from the SB and raised the 3 limpers. Flop was 7 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]7 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]4 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]. I bet and everyone called. Turn was the T [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] giving me top boat. I bet and once again everyone called. After a blank on the river, I bet and the button raised. I reraised, the others folded, and the button called. Sure enough, he held pocket 7's and chose not to extract maximum blood out of me.
Take the mercy play when you can get it...will save at least a few BBs per session. |

Re: Is it bad manners to raise playing B&M?
I had someone call a bet on the river with top full, and someone asked why she didn't raise.
"Because I wanted to show it!" People amaze me every day. |

Re: Is it bad manners to raise playing B&M?
According to psychology of poker it would because their personality type is that of one who wants to be liked by others - they'll probably never checkraise either (unless it's against a major jerkoff that nobody at the table likes).
