crim, while I appreciate your efforts to clean this forum up of improperly placed posts, that is not my point at all. My point is... these posts get made about once a week. The same posts, over and over again. If people would just take 5 minutes to search through the archives before they posted, we could save thousands of posts every week.

[/ QUOTE ]

I guess I missed your point. Still, it seems odd that that would be your intention with your post. The people who are not bothering to take 5 min to search through the archives are not going to see your post either. Naturally I assumed that your post was intended on an acedemic level (for people like me), not a practical level.

Sorry, and I appretiate your politeness towards me.

Default Does puppykicker = gabyyyy? Lord help us!

Are you a clone of gabyyyy?

Are you brothers, sisters?

Are you both in the same mental institution?

Do you have any clue how base, demeaning and senseless your posts are?

You really need some professional help.

the ones who get good enough to be the best generally could have done something better with their lives, but for reasons like the above, they don't.

If you don't want to be a doctor, a lawyer or in management I don't see which careers could make you more money. (Especially if online poker doesn't go belly up.)

If you live in a country that doesn't tax poker winnings I don't see how anything but getting far up in management or being partner in a law firm will net you more dollars.

Is it Poker that caused this problem or is it Poker that attracts this problem?

And I don't have a "personal hygiene problem", thank you very much. Whenever the tarter gets too thick I scrape it off at the table.

If you have a life that you like, keep it.

I'm sure Negreanu and Lederer are eager to hang out with you too...

What a deliberately inflammatory waste of time this post is...

I wouldn't know what other poker players look like I only play on the net lol

I am extremely unsocial (people just arent worth the hassle, I mean how can respect someone who enjoys watching friends?)

I play poker because it is

A) a way to make big money if you put in the effort
B) requires little social interaction (on the net anyway)
C) will eventually allow me to get away from forced social interaction (work)

Why would a social person want to be a poker player? Social people dont get off on strategic games or gambling.

Every poker player I meet that is any good is either a) an enormous nerd, b) obsessive compulsive c) a raging egomaniacal douchebag, or d) all of the above.

[/ QUOTE ]

This could easily be written, "Every person I meet that is highly successful is..."

Poker doesn't have anything to do with it. Witness Bill Gates, Mark Cuban, Donald Trump, etc. Include also just about every top pro athelete. How about top lawyers, doctors, etc? Oh and don't forget politicians either.

This probably should be in the Psychology forum - maybe they could give you the help you need.

Every poker player I meet that is any good is either - Now if by any good you mean someone who's been a winning player at every limit they've played from $0.25/$0.50 - $5/$10 I'll use myself as an example for this.

a) an enormous nerd - depends on your definition of nerd, if it means someone whos smart count me in, other than seeing how I tend to be somewhat of a slacker in school I'm not in this category

b) obsessive compulsive - haha not quite

c) a raging egomaniacal douchebag - cant say that I qualify here

d) all of the above - well part 1 has been disproved

Usually, these characteristics are accompanied by:
a) a serious weight problem - 6'5" 195 and a member of my college's track team

b) poor personal hygiene - Seeing how due to practice and just daily activities I take 2-3 showers a day, and I've never had a cavity in my life, my hygiene seems to be going good

c) badly underdeveloped social skills - I have plenty of friends and seem to get my fair share of girls

d) extreme physical unattractiveness - well can't say 100% for sure but I am in very good physical shape from being on track and once again I don't seem to have trouble picking up girls when I want to

e) all of the above - and the myth has been disproved. Hooray

Also, I only used myself as an example here. However, through playing poker I've met some players who are far better than myself who wouldn't qualify under any of your categories either. So being a good poker player doesn't also mean you're a social misfit.

Default Aww, you spoiled all the fun, Ebenhoe!

You're the only one on this entire thread that actually gave him a serious answer.

Not that he deserved one. If you want to complain about the social acceptability of the other players, I think signing your name "PUPPYKICKER" is sort of asking to get flamed.
