Re: 10-25 NL at Foxwoods
While I usually try not to bump just to say I liked a post, I'm bumping to say I really liked this post...
One of the best threads I've seen on this board in a while. Thanks! scrub |

Re: 10-25 NL at Foxwoods
Hi coltrane,
[ QUOTE ] )?.....if I've got it right here, I think it makes a lot of sense [/ QUOTE ] Yep, you've got it. My read of the situation was that the pro was counting on the kid reacting to the act as he would if the pro was a weak player, which he obviously wasn't. It worked perfectly, to my surprise. As far as the pro's instant call, it surprised me a bit, too, not so much because of the pair, but because he couldn't account for the nut flush. This was a possible hand for the kid. However, I think the massive river overbet helped him (nearly) eliminate super-strong holdings from the kid's range of hands. Also, you know how a lot of times your gut tells you to make a big call, so you do it quick, before your brain gets in the way? This might've been one of those, partially. |

Hi Justin,
I wanna give you some late props. I think we must've been posting at the same time, or else I just overlooked your guess. Anyway, you basically nailed it. |

The kid was embarrassed, and left the game immediately. I think he went to go catch up on some sleep--hint, hint. [/ QUOTE ] Well John wasn't the brightest guy I knew in Junior High and High School. Justin A |

Re: 10-25 NL at Foxwoods
Oh yeah....also forgot that the pro has 20k in his stack. I guess the 6k call is almost a no-brainer if you've got him pegged on a bluff and calling his all-in requires less than a third of your stack.

Re: 10-25 NL at Foxwoods
Where do the young players get this kind of money to play in these games.... I have gone and just sat and watched the 10-25 game at Foxwoods (when its spread), each time with maybe 3 or so players who looked between the ages of 21 and 24. Also each has atleast 5k sitting in front of them.
Do these guys play with their whole bankroll sitting with them? Or are they legitimate players? If I was a different kind of a person, I would scrap my money and go sit at this game too... with the hopes of getting rich in one sitting. I feel like some of these guys are like that. |

Re: 10-25 NL at Foxwoods
[ QUOTE ]
Without looking at the other responses, I'll take a stab. Since you seem to know what the pro had, he probably called and very likely had the nuts or close to it. I'm going to put him on AQc, for the flush draw and the gutshot. [/ QUOTE ] i think this is the least likely hand for the pro to have. with AQ of clubs the pro is going to check behind on the turn. pro's hate making bets with nut draws when it opens them up to big checkraises they don't want to have to call. and since we know this kid "tries to win every pot he's in regardless of his opponents apparent strength" there is no way the pro is betting AQ clubs here. my guess is either AK clubs, although that is still pretty unlikey for the same reason i just mentioned. i'm leaning more towards JJ or 99. edit: just saw the results...tee hee.... Re: 10-25 NL at Foxwoods
The kid in this story just placed 13th at the WSOP main event this year and won like 250k.
