I remember when I first started hearing 'Crush' in terms of win rates. I thought crushing the game was winning 20-30 BB/hr and if I wasnt winning that much I wasnt crushing the games.

I now know when people like Ed refer to crushing, they consider a 3-5 BB/hr win rate to be crushing.

You dont consider that crushing? Im pretty sure someone pulling 4BB/100 at a 15/30 game is crushing the hell out of it. And that would be like 3BB/hr

I think he's saying 3-5bb/hr is not likely unless the oppononts are absolutely horrible aka micro.

I'll bet you 100 bucks that not one peroson on here with 100k 15/30 hands is beating hte party 15/30 game for 5 bb/hr

Hell I highly doubt anyone is beating it for 4.

4 bb/100 is different. I've seen that. (not me, just for the record)

i played at bay 101 today and didnt call the BB for 90 minutes, most brutal cards ive ever seen. so, as a joke, i posted a straddle, i got AQc and hit my flush and won a giant pot. then i didnt win another hand for the rest of the night. i should have switched tables.

Right the 3-5 BB/hr comes to about 5-8 BB/100. The only place that should be possible is in Micro. Now I see the OP posts mostly in Micro, so he was probably serious, and correct for his limits.

The joke I was thinking of could have gone something like this: "I thought crushing the game was winning 20-30 BB/hr and if I wasnt winning that much I wasnt crushing the games. I now know when people like Ed refer to crushing, they consider a 10-15 BB/hr win rate to be crushing."

The first time I played 30-60 at Bellagio, I didnt get a playable hand for about 4.5 hours. Some guy at the other end of the table had already built up a stack of about 15K in that time.

If I hadn't read 'Zen and the Art of Poker', I would have been eliminated within an hour.

I don't live in Vegas(yet) and was only there for the weekend. This can put even more pressure on you to play.

Just understand this - you can play for weeks and not get a playable hand. It is entirely possible. Not likely, but possible. When you understand this concept, waiting 6 or 7 hours won't bother you anymore.

There is a different problem, though, which relates to your skill relative to the skill of the others at the table. If you haven't picked up a hand in a few hours, your table image will be extremely tight, especially if there are a number of people at the table who are better than you. When you finally do play a hand, you may be at a severe disadvantage b/c they will be able to read your hand more easily and you may not know it. If I find myself in this type of situation, where I haven't had a hand in a few hours and I suspect that I will not get paid off when I finally get one, then I will usually take a break.
