Default Radke / Schilling / Mulder - Last Start

Radke Tonight:
7 Innings, 1 run, 5 hits, o walks, 2Ks

Schilling's Last Start:
8 1/3 Innings, 3 runs, 5 hits, o walks, 10Ks

Mulder's Last Start:
6 Innings, 5 runs, 10 hits, 2 walks, 5Ks

Radke is a lot better than people think and he is awesome as of late. I believe he has the 6 best ERA in the american league.

Assuming the Yankees, Sox, Twins and A's are the four playoff teams, since the Yankees and Sox are in the same division, one of them will face the Twins, the other the A's. I agree there's not much to choose from between Radke and Mulder. And Santana, if anything, right now, is tougher than Hudson. And Zito doesn't impress me. So facing the Twins might indeed be tougher than the vaunted Oakland starting three.

The Yankees, Red Sox, and Twins have all clinced playoff spots. The A's, Angels, and Rangers are left to fight for the AL West division title. The Yankees magic # is 4 to win the East.

East
New York: 97-59
Boston: 94- 62 (-3)

Central
Minnesota: 90-66

West
Oakland 89-67
Anaheim 88-68 (-1)
Texas 86-70 (-3)

If the season were to end today, the Yankees would play the A's while the Red Sox play the Twins.

I can't find anything about whether the first round is still 5 games or has been changed to 7 games (based on a post above).

Default Best of Five

It's best-of-five.

The Twins are selling playoff tickets, and the package is for "Division Series Home Games 1,2 and 3 (if necessary)"

Note that the Twins would currently have home-field advantage in the Division Series, so if the series was best-of-seven, they would offer ticket packages to all four (possible) home games.

[edit]Also found this story on Cubs tickets:

"Game 3 and, if necessary, Game 4 of the best-of-five NLDS would be played at Wrigley Field on Oct. 9 and Oct. 10"

Mulder is sucking so bad right now they are questioning whether or not he is going be in the starting rotation should the A's make the playoffs. Word is his fastball is off by 4-5mph and the sinker just don't sink any more. Billy Beane swears up and down he's not injured. Yea right.

Default Tiebreaker As/Twins?

The A's have a winning record against the Twins this year, so would the As get the wildcard(Red Sox) if they finish tied?

Interesting that the Yankees play the Twins in a 3 game set where it might be better for them to lose as they would be more likely to face the As. The As pitching isn't as strong right now and they face the Angels the last 3 so probably won't be able to rest pitchers and/or set-up their rotation for the first series.
