Whenever I talk to somebody about poker I always get the feeling they think poker is 1 crazy bluffathon because that is all they want to know about.

"ooo how much do you bluff"
"yeah i bet you bluff really well huh"
"poker players are good liars"

Yeah. I get a whole lot of bluffing comments too.

"How can you tell when they're bluffing?" is another common one.
"I see them on TV and all they do is bluff."


There's a coolness factor with poker that generates all these questions from people who know nothing about it.
But because they know nothing about it, they're assumptions are completely askew of what it really is.


This was the situation I had with my previous occupation of 10 years (before i was a BJ dealer for a year).
Kind of cool (to some anyway) so lots of questions and even more misconceptions.

Funny...this exact scenario happened to me at the beginning of August. The package I was expecting was from amazon.com, and it was NPA Ed Miller's new book, SSH. When the package wasn't given to me when I requested, I considered pressing criminal charges. Fortunately, my neighbors "forgot" they had the book, and gave it to me 1/2 hour later, opened, of course.

One thing that really annoys me. When you use a $20 bill to pay for a small item, and the cashier rudely asks "Don't you have anything smaller?"

First of all, if I had something smaller, maybe I would use it and maybe I wouldn't. That's my perogative as the customer. Second, it is your freakin' store and your responsibility to make change. If you don't have small bills, then get off your lazy ass and go to the bank and get some small bills. A $20 is legal tender and should be accepted without question.

There, I feel better now.

Annoys the hell out of me - the other guy at the table that will type 100 "Z"s everytime the above player pauses.

I hate it when you get to the final table of a tourny and no matter how dominating your hand is preflop, the chipleaders rags will catch a better flop.
