This is the best thread!

You have two choices in my opinion.

1) Free, Free, set him free...with a piece of cardboard under the jar.

2) If you remember your 9th grade insect collecting project - some cotton swabs soaked in fingernail polish remover under the jar.

Good luck with your moral dilema (sp?).

Default UPDATE

I slid a piece of paper under the jar, and then folded up the two sides to form a tight seal, before flipping the jar over. I then carried the imprisoned spider to the front door and released it into the wild.

It turns out that the average person eats about a dozen spiders in his sleep during his life. So stop screaming and just eat it.
