Default Did everyone notice that no one folded the flop to Bison\'s bet?

And clearly no one put him on quads because he bet. This is a clear lesson to bet your hands on the flop against a field of calling stations. Slowplay sparingly.

Ni han.

Allow me to give most players' thoughts when there's a paired flop.

When their opponent check-calls: "I am afraid of trips."

When their opponent bets-raises-reraises: "I guess he doesn't have trips. GAMBOOL!"

I suspect you'd get used to UB if you played there more. I really like the fixed view. You actually have a small psychological edge over the person sitting directly across from you. Why? Because from their point of view (unless they are in mini-mode), you are "above" them. You have a height advantage that may give a slight perceived intimidation edge to your raises against that player.

Post more of your experiences with 6+ tables. I'd like to know how you feel its impacted your play. By playing so many tables you are, as you said, playing without reads. You're in 100% technical poker land now.

You're in 100% technical poker land now.

First off, let me say that this is not significantly different from how I played .5/1 in the past. I felt I could six table .5/1 right away as long as I could remember the betting action for each hand. I didn't feel like I was actually giving up my profitability by not knowing who anybody is. Playing eight tables on one screen, I couldn't always keep clear what had happened on previous streets of each hand, which is not good.

Clearly, by playing 6 instead of 4 or 2 or 1, I'm giving up some per-table EV, but for the moment (at this .5/1) the added tables more than makes up for the drop in rate. I don't think I'll be trying 6 3/6 tables in the near future.

Thoughts on .5/1:

1. Value bet, value bet, value bet. Dear god, value bet. The players want to call with anything. Raise preflop with edge hands and raise postflop for value with the nth nuts. You will get paid off by worse hands here so often it's like a gold-mine.
2. The pots are really big, so you can do a lot of things you couldn't do otherwise: take one off. call one down.
3. Chris_Daddy on tilt is almost impossible to distinguish from Chris in the best poker mood ever. Raise Raise Raise Raise. Isolate the 8 weak limpers!

good advice.

regarding the monitors.
you don't HAVE to spend $700 on a fancy 2nd monitor.
any old monitor will do. there are some adequate monitors for $200 or less.
my secondary monitor is a $50 used thing that i got at one of those computer-parts/fix-it shops.

somebody asked how it works....a video-card costs $40 or so.
if you have Windows XP or NT or whatever then your computer should already be able to multi-table.
control panel --> display --> settings

i was all set to buy a video-card until i realized my computer already had multi-tabling capabilities.
you can set up the 2nd monitor on top or on either side and the mouse just moves from one to the other....once you get used to it you forget that you are on two different screens.
very easy (as proven by the fact that i can do it).

bison - multitabling at 2/4 or 3/6 might be easier than you think.
especially with the player-notes feature.
it's true that you might sometimes miss some of the action.

when it gets back to you on a table you need to re-focus on your position and the action so far in that round.
it's easy to check it through when you miss the flop even after nobody else has bet.

but you'll start to pick up on reads of your opponents a bit more than you might think.
as you already know, some of the 2/4 and 3/6 opponents will become familiar names to you fairly quickly.

you're obviously doing the right thing by experimenting with this at .5/1 first.
i just wanted to dispute the fact that it's 100% technical-poker.
there is room there for SOME reads.
more technical (when multi-tabling) doesn't have to mean 100% technical.
1 or 2 good reads at a table (rock or maniac, whatever) can go a long way.

I'm not home now so I haven't looked into it, but I have a question about using multiple monitors...

I have a laptop that has a place where you can connect an external monitor (Like all of them do I believe). Can I set it up as a double monitor with the external monitor and the laprop screen?

on most laptops, hooking up a monitor just allows you to view what is on the laptop lcd on a monitor as well, for presentation purposes. There may be some laptops out now that are higher end with dual monitor support though. what brand/model is it?

I was playing at party. Now I'm playing at party and a party skin simultaneously.
