I wonder if Gabe really does check/fold.

Also, I'm slightly confused by the re-isolation play with 88. That seems a bit weak to re-isolate on doesn't it?

Avid...

Gabe was being slightly facetious I'm sure, but there's merit in its implications.

andyfox-

If someone else had posted this hand in the manner you did, then I would've checkcalled too. Without the foreknowledge of this post, you or anyone else would surely be inclined to c/r/3-bet.

Normally, yes. At the time, at that table, at that moment, with those blinds, it seemed correct. I think the raiser could have had a very weak hand to have raised there.

Gabe's a smart guy.

Online, this is a easy cap against an unknown. B&M against unknown, it should be worth at least 4 or 5 bets if not more.

So you 4 bet re-isolated? cause you said the loose passive guy co-1 raised, the co isolated, and you 3 bet on the button. That doesn't make sense.

I'll assume you meant 4 bets.

I can't believe he didn't pop you back.

I'd have made Andy Fox a rich man indeed. And writing it like that in caps, separated, makes me realize it's the name of the wife in Foxtrot.

To tell the truth at the table I might have enough doubt to check and call. I would show my hand with the best "Andy, I thought we were friends" look I could muster. Then a least everyone would think that Andy's a dick and I'm a nice guy. (Exactly the opposite of reality for those who don't know.)

Andy,

Would you have raised the river if you held the nut flush? Your play seems like the play of someone going after the flush, and I really am astounded Gabe didn't 3bet you.

I think I would have raised the river with the nut flush, putting my opponent on a big pocket pair with which he'd have to call the raise for the size of the pot.

BTW, my opponent was not Gabe. I too was astounded he didn't 3-bet. Perhaps, though, I should not have been.

Pre-flop, the first guy limped, the second guy raised, and I 3-bet. I made a mistake in my original post, which I corrected in my "correction" post. Sorry.
