I like the look of the inner ring, but does it serve any other purpose other than installing cup holders? [/ QUOTE ] Not really...i guess the chips stack a little better, but it is kind of a pain to pick up the cards off the hard surface.... I don't care though because it looks so damn cool |

It looks cool, but the gap is a problem it's a pain to cut, [/ QUOTE ] true that....that was the hardest part of the project [ QUOTE ] How did you attach the railing? I still haven't gotten around to doing mine yet. [/ QUOTE ] bought it from www.casinosupply.com it's really easy, you just staple the bottom with the longest staples you can find and a nice staple gun. The seam is then covered with a strap of leather. |

Great table there! If you don't mind me asking, what would you estimate your total cost for all materials?

Re: The FINAL table.....pics
You say it's simple, but I looked at the plans and I know I couldn't do it. Anything that involves building with my hands I am horrible at. It's like playing with a 27o and trying to be a winning poker player.

Re: The FINAL table.....pics
That table looks great! How much woodworking/furntiure building experience did you have before you built it?

Re: The FINAL table.....pics
Yeah, mine was about $250, all told. I only needed a single sheet of plywood on top of the table (spent money on good hardwood, though, so even just one wasn't cheap).
$40 Folding table (Office Max) $70 Perfect Padded Rail (casinosupply.com) $70 Casino Cloth (casinosupply.com) $45 Hardwood Plywood (Home Depot) $12 Headliner Padding (JoAnn's Fabrics) $3 Screws & staples (Home Depot) =$240. Numbers are approximate, but pretty close. BTW, if you don't do the racetrack around the edge, this is a *really* simple project. Get the plywood cut at home depot to 42" x 84". Go home, draw a half circle on each end, use a skill saw to cut along the lines. Screw the plywood onto the table. Wrap the table with headliner, and staple thoroughly. Wrap again with casino cloth, staple throughly. Slap on the rail, staple underneath. Shuffle up and deal. -Nate |

Re: The FINAL table.....pics
I agree...the racetrack design makes the project harder by a magnitude of 5. Still do-able, though. I didn't really have much woodworking experience, but a friend of mine did, and that certainly helped.

a little over $300 total. but i bet I could do it for about 225-250 if i shopped around a little more [/ QUOTE ] As another comparison, here were my totals. This is for a table without the wood "racetrack". 2 sheets 3/4" CDX plywood - $60 Folding table legs from Home Depot - $16 Foam headliner padding (not actual auto headliner...this stuff had a plastic/vinyl backing, but was about 2/3 the cost) - 3 yards - $15 Table fabric (I bought polyester fabric on clearance at Joann Fabric - way cheaper, and frankly, while it isn't "casino" cloth per se, the cards slide great) - 3 yards - $10-$12 total 1" foam 4'x6' sheet - $15 Marine vinyl - 3 yards - $20 Throw in another $10 for spray adhesive, screws, glue, etc. Roughly $150 total. The real kick in the groin after I finished mine though, was the first tournament we used it for, I found out that not only does one of the guys we invited do professional upholstery for a living, but can get ridiculous prices for most of the materials at cost. We all thought the rail I made looked great, but it was a nightmare for him to look at. |
