Re: 10/20 Bottom set. Wtf???

Make a small blcoking bet on the river. Fold to a raise. [/ QUOTE ] Wouldn't a small bet invoke a reraise? |

Re: 10/20 Bottom set. Wtf???
You think someone else checked through a set in the last two positions, or are you afraid of AA? Either way, this hand is bizarre, but I think you're still ahead more often than not. Call, check/call a non 4/9 river.

Re: 10/20 Bottom set. Wtf???
I think a J or a 6 on the river is just about as horrible as a 4 or a 9 considering the flat calls from MP1 & MP2.

Re: 10/20 Bottom set. Wtf???
yeah no kidding, lots of draws out there, im sure one of them holds a 6, maybe T9 is out there
i highly doubt anyone checks a higher set from the last two positions, especially on a board that can very easily 4-straight id consider pushing the turn, even though it looks like you have a monster (which you do) that missed check-raising the flop river i bet and fold to a raise, grudgingly |

Re: 10/20 Bottom set. Wtf???
The only person I'd be worried about here is UTG, I just can't put MP1 or MP2 on a higher set than you. The good thing is that UTG is short stacked - you might be able to get a side pot going to recoup any losses to UTG. I call the turn, and then check the river.
Assuming a brick - if UTG goes all-in and noone raises behind, I raise when it gets back to me. If UTG moves in and MP1 or MP2 raises, I probably fold then. D |

Raise 1250 to 1500. If MP1 calls you've got a small problem.

Re: 10/20 Bottom set. Wtf???
I don't like the call turn check call river line becuase the pot will be too big. There will be over 2k in the pot, so check calling the river can be disastrous.
I like a push instead. Even with the 4k stack in there, a push is barely bigger than a pot sized raise. I can't see anyone having a straight, and I can't see anyone calling UTG's raise on the turn with a higher set. UTG can have anything, and he's shortstacked, so we're not really worried about him. I'd say one of the other two players hit the ace (most likely 2 pair, possibly 1 pair), and the other has a 6. Combined, they have lots of outs, so calling and check calling seems much worse than shoving it in there. |

Re: 10/20 Bottom set. Wtf???
Whoa, 100% correct! The pot is large enough and your river play has a low enough expectation given the texture of the board, the # of opponents left in the hand, and the informational edge they'll have on the river that pot protection is priority 1.
Turn = all-in. If they have a straight go broke. If they have higher sets go broke. They don't have them often enough for it to be a concern, nor do they have hands you can extract significant amounts of value from on a blank river to make it worth playing a river card. RERAISE TURN ALL-IN! |

Re: 10/20 Bottom set. Wtf???
I have to run guys. More on my opponents tomorrow. For now...
on the river I checked, UTG bet $65 (LOL!) and MP1 reraised all in. Quickly folded to me. It's $3674 for me to call. |
