Hero is very unlikely to be very behind, and betting puts money in the pot. Villian called a large flop raise, and is thus, likely to call this bet. If villian has a draw, he may call this bet drawing dead, but will put no money in the pot on the river. If villian has a hand like a big pair or top pair, a scare card might hit on the river, and he won't put any more money in.
We want to win his money, betting is the best way to do this. |

Do you not think he's equally likely to be scared away by a bet on the turn as he is to be scared by a scare card on the river? And on the river, he's reasonably likely, imo, to think hero was bluff-raising the flop, and blow more chips on a value bet/bluff.
And that bet... is money... that we won. And.. you like boys. =] EDIT: to note... he did bet the turn, and he folded. Good job winning money . =] |

It's more that you want to get all-in here, and if you check the turn, you're forced to overbet the river to get all-in. If you cut his remaining stack in half and bet the turn and river, it's easier for most players to call.

Yeah, that too.
Also, checking behind after the board pairs is not really that tricky. Also.. I think that Marko is forgetting the read of villian [ QUOTE ] Villian is, like, stupid. And bad. [/ QUOTE ] We only need to stack him half as often for hero's line to be more profitable, and villian's range is pretty much AKs and overpairs (methinks). |

puuuuuuuuush. [/ QUOTE ] no, not a cent more than 700. Villain's AK limp push isn't that bad, but im sure you have more to go on than that. If he's messing around with some connectors a push gets rid him, as well as 88-TT most likely. I like Bobbo's 600. edit - FWIW I think a push is correct against better opponents, but you just have to give the party donks more room to make a mistake. Call or fold is pretty clear. |
