Yeah, you're right about the button. But let's say he was down to $800 or so in that situation? Triple up and he's right back in the thick of things. I'd go for it, but I'm fairly new at this and I like to gamble.

I have won one of these 180s at Stars though and made the final table at 4 others by gambling like a maniac (out of maybe 30-40 total played - so I guess I'm up a little). I've also had a few big stack meltdowns or I'd have been in the top 3 a couple more times. I figure being willing to risk my whole stack is my best edge against guys who are capable of folding AK and AQ when shown strength.

And I will say that I've found extreme post-flop aggressiveness following a preflop raise incredibly +eV at this level. IE: constant continuation bets of about 80% of the pot, bluff check-raises, betting HUGE when I have JJ-KK and an A falls on the flop to push out A-medium, betting big on the turn when an A or a K falls and I don't have one, even little probe bets. Same with the $25-$30 SNGs. Is this just common knowledge, or have I stumbled onto something? Sometimes I go play the $55s just to see what it's like to play against people who don't put up with that crap.

I hope no one who plays against me reads this.

Yeah its atrocious. How could he possiblty "put them" on overcards given the action.

"i have 44. it really looks like that guy is just pushing something like AK or AQ. cmon, im a favorite! if i call i bet the others fold too"

"i have KQ. it really looks like that guy is just pushing with some small pocket like 66. cmon, theres already so much in the pot! if i call i bet the others fold too"

this is what goes inside the heads of your average 180-man sng player

IMO...This is a fold for me. You have to give one of them credit for a pair, and you must think one of them is holding an A or a K, if not both, so there goes some of your outs. Also, these 180's are complete donkfests and you will be able to get your money in at a better time.

edit..I didn't read any reply's before replying to the OP

I think this is precisely what goes on in the heads of some players. This thought process is flawed- we know this. The odds that one or the other of these players does not hold an overpair is slim.

Nonetheless, in this particular situation, this players idiocy has revealed precisely the situation he was looking for. How are his chances? Is this a good bet?

On a side note, I have once again downloaded the setup for Pokerstove. It says something about an unknown publisher...do I need to be concerned? Last time, my computer blew up. I guess PM me with the response...sorry about the threadjack.

-D.

This is an easy fold, not because the CO has you beat (his most likely hand by far is also AK) but because the button has some kind of hand and you are missing at least 2 outs.

larmorec: figured we were flipping
larmorec: but no...
larmorec: lol
Dealer: larmorec has a pair of Sixes
Dealer: yvesaint has a straight, Nine to King

i had QQ he had 66

but for this particular hand, i dont mind a fold, just because the cold caller has such a big stack - ive seen AA-QQ pull this sort of "slowplay" move too
