High Limit Poker Rooms in Vegas

The most recent they have been over there was during the WSOP. They've been there a few different occasions since opening the upstairs section.

By David's own admission, he is just learning stud games and Omaha 8. However, his aggression and instinct definitely make up for lack of fundamentals. My guess is he will be a monster within a year.

question to the above poster re bellagio regulars:

so...while off the tourney circuit these pros bascially exchange each other's money on a weekly basis with the exception of a few whales (i.e. Larry Flynt)?...sounds kind of odd.

I believe a more accurate statement would be, they lie in wait for the tourist that wants to take a shot at the big time.

Larry Flint is actually quite good, and better than most of these players.
The thing is that not everyone who plays at a certain bet level is the same skill level. For example, Gus Hansen in the 2k/4k. He is such a 'great' player, but he gambles way to much and has an inflated ego of his cash game skill. Now he is in debt for millions of dollars.
You get the same thing at 30/60 to 80/160 and higher. People who can crush lower games but get out of their skill level and loss it all, then have to step down or into debt.

It is my understanding that on a regular basis, a businessman or someone with some extra money to burn will sit in just so they can say they played against the best. I wasn't really thinking about Gus Hansen or any regular poker player. I was thinking more along the lines of someone that has the cash and wants to play against them for the "Hell of it".

Unless my inturpretation is off, it sounds like a few people on here are disappointed in the number of high limit games offered in Vegas, yet they don't even play these games. I don't belive anyone has had a problem finding one of these games anytime they want, and they're all stated above.

ANY whales(i.e. Larry Flynt) are an exception and a rarity. Otherwise to answer your question: Yes.

It is the upper side of low limits and the lower side of the high limits that don't have much game selection. Many of the casinos that I played last month, couldn't kep a 4-8 game going let alone 10-20.

Here in the Midwest, you can almost always play $10-20 any time you want.
