LOL...SMB3 not groundbreaking? This game blew away every other game of it's time. Play SMB3 then play any other NES game and tell me it looks like they came from the same console.

I vote SMB3 all the way to the finals

I will actually take that as a challenge, and post some ss of games that look better than smb3.

and smb2 was far better in my opinion, more out there, with different style characters.

final fantasy six was a far more enveloping experience, but hey I guess some people just dont like rpgs.

It's kind of hard to argue with that. Also, it is still the highest selling game of all-time (not counting bundled copies of games) by a wide margain.

Top 10 sellers:
* Super Mario Bros. 3 (NES - 17.28 million)
* Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas (PS2 - 12 million)
* Grand Theft Auto: Vice City (PS2 - 12 million)
* Gran Turismo 3: A-Spec (PS2 - 11 million)
* Gran Turismo (PS1 - 10.5 million)
* Grand Theft Auto III (PS2 - 10 million)
* Final Fantasy VII (PS1 - 9.8 million)
* Gran Turismo 2 (PS1 - 8.5 million)
* GoldenEye 007 (N64 - 8 million)
* Gran Turismo 4 (PS2 - 8 million)

splashpot, i totally agree. While SMB3 is an excellent game, FFVI is the the best RPG ever made (I'll accept arguments for FFVII). The best gameplay, amazing story, amazing side quests. It just didn't get any better than this game. How dare it lose so badly to a decent side scroller.

have you tried FF5? it has the job setup like FFT, but in an rpg, good times.

In the end, nostalgia over a mainstream game beats nostalgia over a classic rpg, it makes sense.

FFV was fun.

FFVI was great.

FFVII was good.

FFVIII was awesome.

FFIX was sweet.

FFX is the best.

FFX-2 isn't bad either.

To this day, the only musical instrument that I know how to play is the Ocarina of Time.

I actually learned how to play (most of) the Red Dwarf theme on the Ocarina of Time and the Nocturne of Shadow on a real ocarina. Whether this is admiration or abuse worthy, I don't know.
