You don't consider 4 handed multi way? That's what I was suggesting.

1) I'm not super pissed about it being 4 handed if I cold call, but it's certainly not ideal or even close to it.

2) Expecting it to be 4 handed, on average, is really optimistic.

the fact that the blinds are likely to come along can be an arguement FOR 3 betting, not against it.

This may mean I suck, but 3 handed with QJs on the button in a 3/6 game, I can work with that. This may simply be my running hot + doesn't play a ton ego making me think that I can outplay people too much though...

I wouldn't be completely opposed to 3 betting, but I don't think it should be the default play. I really want to have a showdownable hand to be 3 betting regularly here.

If you told me before I had to make my decision that the button would fold and one of the blinds would call, I would fold in a haertbeat.

Without a read on MP I would fold. We maybe get 3 to the flop and I don't feel I have any control of the hand from there. Reasonable possibility of being dominated as well.

I'm being convinced I'm a fish here...

My ego and I need to have a frank conversation about preflop play.

in a 1/3 structure i think its an easy fold. in a 1/2 structure its closer, but still a fold imo, and in a 2/3 structure its even closer. that is to say its closer to coldcalling than folding. i dont like 3betting as you might as well keep the terrible blind players in the hand with a strong multiway holding.
