That was actually an interesting part of watching the broadcast. So much more subdued than today's type of coverage. Clearly there was a lot said about Nolan, a lot of nice things, etc, but it wasn't fanatical the way it can be about Brady, Favre, etc. In the big moments of the game, like when Nolan was taken out, and when the last out was made, McDoughnogh just simply stayed quiet and let the moment happen. Too many broadcasters these days would have been gushing with commentary.

Nolan is an interesting statistical case as well. His K/9 and HR/9 numbers are outstanding at the peak of his career. And of course his BB/9 is off the charts in the other direction. Quite the dichotomy.
