HOF's gotta be out of the question, isn't it? Unless he proves this wrong?

Also, weren't they sworn in before they testified? Isn't that perjury?

[/ QUOTE ]

How would it be perjury? You think the test was taken *before* the testimony?

[/ QUOTE ]I agree, to much circumstancle (sp) evidence to prove he lied before congress.

This is worse than Pete Rose betting on baseball. If this is true, I hope he never gets a sniff of Cooperstown.

What the [censored] ever.

Are you serious? Do you seriously support induction into The Hall of Fame for a man who tested positive for steroids?

[/ QUOTE ]I think he is referring to the severity. Rose gambling on his own team is worse than a player taking roids.

Isn't all enhancement drugs, and the media just uses the term steroids?

Hell, it could be ephedrine right? Anyone know the list of banned substances?

This is arguable at best. I can understand someone thinking Rose's offense was worse, but not substantially worse. Certainly not worse enough to say it's not even a discussion.

No, I am saying there is no way taking steroids is worse than Pete Rose.

I don't think he's saying that. I think he's saying that betting on baseball is merely a far worse transgression. Doesn't mean Palmeiro is excused in the least.

This is a big story. Should be interesting to hear what over-the-counter supplement he used that has some small banned ingredient that he didn't know about.

Yeah, its not perjury.

Lets assume that the did take something unknowingly at the time for now. So... if Palmeiro has any chance of making it to the Hall he needs to come out in his press conference this afternoon and say something along the lines of this:

"Last month my knee was all banged up. The trainer gave me Acme Brand Knee Balm. This medicine contained trace amounts of steroids, unknown to both the Trainer and myself. blah. blah. blah. I am truly sorry. I have disappointed myself, my family, the Orioles, and especially my fans."

If he comes out and says things along the same exact lines as Bonds. "I just took what they gave me" then I am not buying it.

He needs to tell everyone exactly what he took and why he took it.
