I saw a player at the 40-80 bring a roll of quarters to the table because all that was in the bank for 40-80 were 50 cent pieces and he only wanted to come off a quarter at a time.

[ QUOTE ] I was playing 3/6 at Canterbury and a guy tossed a blue chip to the dealer and asked him to chop it. The dealer threw it back and said, "No thanks." [/ QUOTE ] I find this incredibly hard to believe. Do you remember which dealer it was? [/ QUOTE ] My friend has had a dealer refuse a 50 cent tip as well. Ill ask him which dealer it was, im sure he remembers. |

I usually take really good care of the dealers at Turning Stone, regullary tipping them $1-5 dollars, they know me by name very well atleast most of them do. One of the perks of tipping the dealers very well is when I come in I dont usually wait for a seat, usually if there is a seat open and there just about to call it to the board but they see me walk in they just point to me and point at the seat open I sit right down, yell for a chip runner, and Im playin.

Only time I've seen that is 1-5 stud with no ante. Doing it at 5/10 is just cheap, which pretty much confirms you were at the Taj :0) [/ QUOTE ] I saw a few players tippping $0.50 in the 5/10 kill game at Foxwoods over the past two days. |

If a dealer turned down my $.50 tip in a $3/6 game, I probably wouldn't tip him at all for a little while. The dealers at Canterbury who haven't dealt in other parts of the country have no idea how good they have it.

Well, I hate to say it but I have been tipping .50 live at Foxwoods, buying a roll of half dollars (or getting a bunch playing 5-10 stud). I'd never ask a dealer to chop though. I think I'll continue to tip .50 there, as the dealers pool tips. At Mohegan, I used to do the .50 tip to the bad/okay dealers and do $1 or $2 to the good ones (depending on pot size.) In NYC club, where dealers are paid only tips I always tip $1.

I played in 10-20 full kill o8 game at the mirage and a guy didn't tip all night. he won a monster (MONSTER)pot with a royal flush against aces full and four kings and told the dealer to chop a blue chip. that was pretty ridiculous.

I used to know a stud player that the dealers called (not to his face) "50-cent Sid".
One day, he scooped a monster pot, and tipped me 75 cents. That end of the poker room looked like an EF Hutton commercial. Everyone froze, and looked over. I think the world may have stopped spinning for a moment. EDIT: Note that I'm not complaining about 50-cent tips. |

I played a 3/6 game where there was a guy that tipped when he won by throwing a one to the dealer, asking him/her to chop it, then give the dealer both 50c chips, saying "just wanted to make you work for it". He did this three times for three diffrent dealers.
