Ok, everywhere I played it has been striclty forbidden. But the rules differs then. I think its a good rule to not allowing showing the hand.

[/ QUOTE ]

Why?

Guess its not a very big problem in HU-spots, but otherwise it can get pretty big consequences. But THERE you are allowed to do it, you cant do it in 3+ - players pots?

My opinion is that is best to just doesnt allow it at all so people dont do it by "mistake" in 3waypots or so...

If you are really curious post something in the B&M forum, this topic has been covered there and there are many floor people who populate that forum.

I believe the reason it is allowed heads vs. multi-way is that in a multi-way pot it could create an unfair advantage. For instance, someone bets and while UTG+2 is thinking the button flashes AA in order to get heads up with the original bettor. Heads up, there is no 'positional' advantage. I can't think of a single situation where I would want to flash a card to my opponent.

I'd say nothing, push, and look straight in his eyes and hope he's read Caro's book of tells.

Villain: "Wow, he's staring at me just like the last photo in Caro's book. He's projecting strength, so he must be weak. We'll probably chop, so I call..."

And yeah, it sucks he showed you the K. Probably best to flash your K back & just stuff it all with some comment about kickers or chopping or something.

[/ QUOTE ]

Say something like "Yep I have one too (flash it to him) so you're not buying a chopped pot, I am! AI".

I think you are a little better than 50/50 he is going to call the push. If he has a good kicker and doesn't consider you to have the FH, he is calling so he doesn't give a won or possibly split pot if you have a good kicker too.

His hand should be dead (not good for you) because he showed the card on purpose.

[/ QUOTE ]

In a tournament you are correct; however, in cash games many casinos will allow it when players are heads up.

I like the have a lot of outs theory...with a king he's calling a push. Don't get cute here, just push and start breathing hard and he'll call. Hell he will probably call no matter what unless you say your one king isn't doing much against my boat. I've actually had people save me money by telling me what they had and me folding and them showing it to me. It pays to be sexy sometimes!

Completely ignore the flash. Even if it was obvious you saw it.
Smile.
"You're so full of s*** your eyes are brown!"
Push.

He won't know what to think. Did you not see the card? Did you think it wasn't a K, even though you saw it? He'll be completely confused, and confused people often call to find out what's really going on.

[/ QUOTE ]

Ya, it was very obvious I saw it, it was mroe of a holding it out until I saw it and then nodding at me.

Thanks for all replies.

I sat there stunned for a second and then began fidgeting with my chips. I grabbed a stack and paused. After a few seconds deliberation I grinned and said "Ok, I'm all in."

Soiler was convinced I was bluffing so I think the act went pretty good. He thought for a while so I tried to act it up, fidgeting and then getting really, really still while he studied me.

He mucked K8 face up and the table started yelling at him saying that if he was going to lay that down then he should just leave the table. He said that I must have had 44 or 99 he figured, or huge balls.

Let the guy guess without you helping him by announcing a hand or showing a card.

You could flat call and make him possibly think you are on some kind of club draw but there is nothing wrong with shoving it in, there are lots of ways to play this.
