Okay, at least 3 people in this thread have mentioned "inflection points," but do any of you know what it means?

[/ QUOTE ]

Not entirely sure, but I think that its kind of like the point of no return... as when the blinds and antes get to a certain point in relation to your stack size, so that when you pick a hand to play you'll have to go to the felt with it, otherwise you'll leave yourself with too little left to have any chance. I could be wrong though.

All in all I really liked the book though, and I'm probbaly going to go over a lot of the stuff a 2nd time before I start regularly playing NLHE tourney... really looking foward to part 2 coming out also.

Most of the advice in HOH seems to deal with situations where the blinds are small compared to the stacks

[/ QUOTE ]

Yes, because the first volume is about early/mid tournament play. Volume 2 is going to be more about late tournament play.

I found HoH V1 to be a very good book. There aren't many tournament books out there, much less many good ones. I like how the information is presented, and he goes into some depth about why certain things work in tournaments.

with the hands I am assuming that these are actual hands and he didnt make it up just for the purpose of showing that you will sometimes make the wrong play.

I don't think it is low tourney content at all. The hands are all in early to mid tournament with stacks smaller than in a ring game and sometimes antes as well. A lot of the strategy would be incorrect in a ring game, He calls for raises PF in a number of spots saying you can take it down right there to win blinds and antes. Rarely in a NL ring game with stacks of 100bb to 500bb (most live NL cash games)would you make any of these plays to steal blinds, as the blinds are virtually worthless. He also analyzes the hands with talk of how much of your stack you are committing and whether this will cripple you in the tournament and the need to constantly aquire chips in a tourney. THese are not ring game considerations.

It came in the mail yesterday and so far it is really good. I suck at tourneys but love to play and Harrington on Holdem is going to help.

What's the ISBN number? (on the bar code somewhere...) I work at Waldenbooks, and will probably order it with my discount.
