Re: Tipping the floor in cardroom
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] Those of you who give reasons why Floor people should not be allowed to take tokes give the reason why THOSE people should not be on the floor. [/ QUOTE ] Not really. Even if your floorman is honest and straight it just looks wrong to see the guy who makes decions taking tokes from players. Its not only important that the game IS honest, it is important that the game APPEAR honest. [/ QUOTE ] Your comment of the game need to ALSO APPEAR honest is paramount. Tipping floor persons should have no influence whatsoever in any game, no matter what the circumstances. Tokes for floor people have been a part of the business for more years than 90% of the forumers here have played. There are many many good floorpeople that do not allow your tokes to influence them. THAT is a well run card room I assure you. |

Re: Tipping the floor in cardroom
[ QUOTE ]
Thank you very helpful. I am referring to a small room where the floor is the brush. I agree they should be compensated appropriately by the house and should share in the dealer's tips if there is enough to go around. [/ QUOTE ] I tip when I had a good night. If you didn't already know, I think it's important I tell you know. A great floor/brush deserves it, in my humble opinion the person I am discussing is a star... and very fair. Wink wink wink... Is this really the case, is that a new rule? Ive never seen a tip refused at the Trop or Taj, I always see them refused at the Borgata |

Re: Tipping the floor in cardroom
I've only tipped the floor once, when i accidentaly threw a $5 chip into a shuffler machine forcing the guy to bring another shuffler, then shake my chip out of the old one. I let him keep it. As soon as that was settled I've spilled a full cup of coffee on myself and he had to go get me some towels.

Re: Tipping the floor in cardroom
This has ALWAYS been the case. You can't tip the floorpeople in New Jersey.

Re: Tipping the floor in cardroom
I'm all for it
Seriously tho, the floor usually makes less money and has to do far more work and suffer far greater headaches, with a lot more responsibility. So if you tip them, good for you. A good floor won't do something highly unethical just because they've been tipped (or tipped in the past), but you may get certain perks from time to time if you take care of the floor guys. For instance, they may route you to the best games, which could be worth far more than the couple / five bucks you slipped them. They won't skip you NINE names ahead on the list, or make a blatantly wrong decision in your favor, but the little perks do add up. Another perk I've gotten from time to time was floormen just giving me a comp without my asking at all. Never hurts, and it will be appreciated. Hell, at magoo fest at the MGM we take up a collection for the floor guys... for putting up with our drunken assess, the bad beats, ridiculously large stacks of chips, and the constant replacement boots they have to keep bringing me from kicking so many people in the nuts! They earn it tho! al |

It seems to me quite bizarre that dealers make more than floormen in many rooms. [/ QUOTE ] Make that MOST rooms, and it's not even close. al |

correction...
[ QUOTE ]
At Bellagio there are players that would ask for a chop on a $1 chip if there were quarters in the rack, but will always throw a nickle or more to the brush and the chip runner. [/ QUOTE ] It would be more accurate if it read... At the bellagio there are players who would win a $4,000 pot, throw the dealer a $500 chip, ask for a chop, ask for a smaller and smaller denomination chops till they got down to the smallest chips, then ask for a $1 chop and give the dealer NOTHING AT ALL while bitching about the fact the dealer didn't smile enough while pushing them that last pot. Then they'd get down on their knees and give the managers and their cronies a **** ***. That's how it REALLY works over there. Oops, I said the quiet part loud!
