At this point, you are in for 3 or 4 bets on a hand you should have folded.. And I'm not in here alone.... [/ QUOTE ] I should've thought about this as a general mistake: Getting in over your head with hands you should've folded. It usually happens to me after a run of really bad cards. I finally get a mediocre hand and jump in too deep. |

I think for a decent player it letting yourself go on tilt.
Maybe I'm only saying this because yesterday, after running bad in the morning but playing ok. I managed to tilt off all my profit from the weekend where I was running pretty good. Sorry for the post, I'm just venting because I am steamed.. actually I feel better now.. whats $1500 anyway, that I can't make back in 2 or 3 or 4 days.. |

This thread has exceeded the expectations I had when I started it.
Thanks for the input, all. And, to those "didn't we already talk about this?" types: BITE ME. |

Size of bets.
Its amazing how some people completely lack the understanding that a bet size should have something to do with the pot size. Hand at my homegame.... 25c/50c blinds NL Raiser makes it $2, Theres a caller, And another caller, Short stack in blinds goes all in for his last $5.75. Call,Call,Call. (yes my home game is super soft) So Its up to the original raiser on a ragged flop. He loads up and places a nice hefty bet of.... $2. I choke and sputter on my iced tea. Online Ive seen some action preflop, followed by someone leading out on the flop with a 1/10th pot bet. Top put icing on the cake they get min raised. |

great subject, here's mine observed from my local tourney.
Limping in from early position....then calling a raise five times the BB from the guy on the button. Over rating two random cards "cos they're suited" Chasing gut shot straights Chasing flush draws (not a high flush) No concept of position Moving all in for 20,000 chips when the pot is 300 Calling off all their chips to see flops. Check and call all the way down with Ace high. My god there are lots......we should all be millionaires with all these players making mistakes all the time !!! |

When someone who hasn't studied poker theory gets a good starting hand, his first instinct will be to keep in as many as many players as possible to build the pot. |

I thought I was the only one who did that: jump into a S&G thinking Holdem - then imagine the shock when four cards are dealt. The only really shocking thing about that is, its happened more than once. |
