Re: Whats the biggest tip youve ever seen?
A few good ones come to mind:
BJ dealer at Casino Arizona makes $28K in an 8 hour shift - $27K came from a single player who was playing three hands of $500 each and betting $100 chips for the dealer Drunk local bj player leaves his rack of chips ($100,000) from a marker he just signed on the table when he starts talking to his wife, who convinces him to come home. I run after him and tell him he still has chips on the table, he tells me to "keep 'em as a gift". I take the rack to the cage and put them in a safe deposit box under his name. A couple weeks later he is in the club and I tell him he still has chips in a safe deposit box, he does not remember anything. We go to the cage, the cage manager gets the box and the player becomes a happy guy. (In case you are wondering, no, I could not keep the chips. Aside from the fact that managers can't keep tokes where I was working, even if I quit on the spot, I probably would have had a tough time convincing anybody that it was a gift) Player on a wild crap game at Harrah's in Reno wins several houndred thousand dollars, and never tips the whole three hours he is playing. After leaving the game and going to the cage, he comes back to the game and tells the stick-man to come to the local Ford Dealer the next morning with the other three dealers. In the end, each dealer got a brand new Ford, no ups, no extras, paid by the player. Good stuff Dogmeat [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] |

The guy sounds cool. I like how no matter what the river card is he still loses the pot.

Re: Whats the biggest tip youve ever seen?
Why was the tip stupid? It was only stuipd if you needed the money. You felt good, they were happy..seems smart to me.

Re: Whats the biggest tip youve ever seen?
Seriously think really really really hard about this then reply . No stop right now..don't reply yet..think a little bit more...okay now try and explain to me why you think ed is wrong...because he isn't. Everyong is telling you you're wrong but you still think you're right...what conclusion can we draw from this? Is this concept so difficult that everyone is missing the point but you? I guess you must be extra extra genius smart or wait how about this...you made a mistake :0

Re: Whats the biggest tip youve ever seen?
I got to play 75-150 stud with Phil Ivey once about four years ago at the Taj in AC. Keep in mind this is when he lived in AC and before he got really big time, thus why he was only playing 75-150. Anyway, he was quite drunk when I joined the game. He constantly was getting up going to the bar right beside the poker room and getting these beers in fancy glasses for him and anyone else that wanted one in the game (on him).
I recall how he ordered a water later on (guess to help him sober up) and when the cocktail waitress brought it to him he asked "How much do you deserve for this"? He had about 10K in front of him. The waitress just kept saying "Oh I dont know, whatever you want to give me". But he kept asking over and over for her to tell him how much money she wanted. She finally decided on a green chip ($25). He gave her a black chip ($100) for his drink. I wonder what he would have said if she replied "I want all of it for that drink". A few other things I remember about that game. I'm sure Phil dosent always do this, maybe it was because it was only 75-150, or maybe it was due to him being so trashed. Either way these would really cut into your win rate. He would give the dealer one or two red ($5) chips every time he won a pot that game. When everyone else won a pot and tipped a white ($1) chip or two, he would remark "But that pot was several hundred dollars, how are you going to only tip that much?" He would say this jokingly of course. The other thing is he would put everyone up that he won a pot from. Even if you only saw 4th street with him then folded he would put in your $15 ante. He was definitely a blast to play with. Mike Emery |

Re: Whats the biggest tip youve ever seen?
Poker: I'd say I've seen tips around $50 before
Outside of poker: I used to work in the bagroom of a country club during high school. We only got tips from about 5% of the golfers, but they usually tipped well. A few guys were good for $20 every time you cleaned their clubs. One time during a big tourney, a guy tipped me $200 to clean his clubs. That's about as much as a made in a week from the CC. Cup |
