I've never read any of the books or seen any of the movies. Same goes for Lord of the Rings.

It is heresy to compare the two (I am talking only about the books, not the movies). LOTR is an epic masterpiece and a challenging read, Harry Potter is neither. Not to say it isn't an enjoyable read, but JK Rowlings isn't in the same league as Tolkien.

I haven't either, and I'm fine with it, and I enjoy making fun of everyone who knows every book by heart. Unfourtunately, I know that if I ever found the time to start reading the series, I would be instantly hooked and become the biggest Harry Potter dork in the world. So I'll stay in my bubble of coolnees for now, even though I'm sure that I'm missing out.

I haven't read any of the books, and don't plan to start. However, I have seen all of the films with my family, and I have enjoyed them.

Does this mean there is something wrong with me?

No. It means you're not a 12 year old girl.

I like to go clay pigeon shooting a lot.

If there is one more thread about Harry Potter, I think I'm going to launch a bunch of Harry Potter books in the air and shoot them.

You should try it. Not only is a gentlemens game, but it's cheap (~$10 for 24 clays, ammo and gun rental), great stress relief, a [censored] ton of fun, and a great activity to take a date on. Just give her the 20 guage semi-auto (less recoil) and she will be fine. It never ceases to amaze me how many normally docile and pristine women perk up to this. Just don't give her the 12 guage pump, she will hate you for that.

Have fun Johnny Boom Boom

Ah, crap. I lied. I have read a small portion of the second book, whatever it's called. I was rather drunk one night when I was still in college, and so was this other girl I was haning out with. We went back to her dorm room, and some how it came up in the conversation that I hadn't read a single line out of the Harry Potter books. Consequently, she insisted on reading some of the second book to me. I thought that was rather odd, but I figured, hey, she's pretty cute. No sense storming out of here over some dumb book when I may just have a good thing going. She got about half way through the first chapter before we got too distracted by making out to continue. I guess I forfeited my membership card to this thread, but it was worth it .
