Re: 10/20 Value bet river 2?
[ QUOTE ]
what about giving him the chance to bluff with a worse hand? hands like J8 or JQ often call a flop and turn bet. [/ QUOTE ] I don't think a passive player does this often enough that when he bets and you call the pot gets shipped. I don't think that he has these holdings and bets them at least 20% of the time. |

Re: 10/20 Value bet river 2?
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] I'd bet. A-high will call. Sometimes K-high will call. [/ QUOTE ] So will a 9 a T a better 4 and some PPs. Before making slim/nonexistant value bets here you wanna have a pretty good read that your opponent is gonna call with K high. I'd much rather check/call expecting to lose most times because your hand sucks. [/ QUOTE ] I don't understand why you would rather do that. Could you please elaborate? |

Re: 10/20 Value bet river 2?
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] Let's say the opponent is a typical 45/15/1.5 with some trickyness in him. Do you still prefer bet/fold and never check/call? [/ QUOTE ] The problem with check/calling this against an opponent who can read hands a bit is that it will be obvious you have a small pair and you let them value bet with impunity (and hardly ever bluff). I haven't discovered the best way to deal with these rivers against bad but thinking players, but check/calling seems very ineffectual. [/ QUOTE ]check/fold of course. |

Re: 10/20 Value bet river 2?
You dont beat enough to value bet but it is a ragged board that even loose passives will bluff.
They also really love bluffing when the board pairs. Lots of funky gutshot combinations that this guy would likely have. Check/fold is also fine if he has minimal river aggression but I find a lot of loose/passives and generally loose players tend to bluff on the end here. |
