Re: Beta Blockers
[ QUOTE ]
I believe Paul Philips uses adderall, somebody correct me if I've slandered him. Those who've used it say its very helpful for concentration and focus, and that poker-wise they feel like it helps them play at their A-game past a point where fatigue might ordinarily start affect them. --Zetack [/ QUOTE ] This is 100% true. Adderal is essentially speed. Im not prescribed it, so I don't know if it has such an intense effect on those that "need it". However, one adderall allows me to play 14 hour sessions like its nothing ( i only do this when I go a casino) without getting too fatigued or drunk. |

Re: Beta Blockers
According to a Swedish semi-pro I talked to (He's previously played darts and bridge at an international level) it's quite common to use some type of "relaxative" in these events - be that alcohol (in very moderate amounts), beta blockers or the drug of your choice.
According to him, they could all enhance performance, but the problem was that to really make them work in a competition setting, you had to use them while training as well... Hello addiction! |

Re: Beta Blockers
I've found that hot soup is also very relaxing. You're laughing, but I'm serious.

Re: Beta Blockers
I took beta blockers for high blood pressure before switching to a different medicine. Even at the lowest dose, I found myself fighting to stay awake. I'm sure it would have reduced my concentration at the table.
