[ QUOTE ]
But about the list ... I don't get it, and there's just too much text on the "about" page for me to read it (plus there's math and math makes me cry). [/ QUOTE ] In summary, Tourney.com is about creating a ranking system for tournament poker players. Golf, tennis, and other individual sports rank their players. Poker should do the same. CardPlayer has a player of the year system, but does not "rank" players. It basically shows who's been good enough to make a lot of final tables that calendar year. You then lose that continuity in January when the year, and thus their point tally, resets. Tourney.com bases this ranking on a rolling 12-month scale where recent events count more. Also, it's based on a unique point system that rewards players for making it in the money, not just the final table(s), and distributes these points more proportionally with money earned. When it comes down to it, being a successful poker player comes down to how much money you make. Lastly, players only earn these points in tournaments that carry the most prestige where they are competing against a high concentration of world-class players. |
