Quick answer, Atticus
[ QUOTE ]
I've decided my HU game blows chunks, so I'm going to donate at the HU sngs for a while. So I have some clue as to when I've improved enough, What roi would be considered good? [/ QUOTE ] $50: 17% $100: 14% $200: 12% $500: 9% $1K: anything + is good I only know 3 or 4 people who have played over 500 of these things, and the above numbers are consistent with their results, and mine. Most people that play HU for a while go on a little heater and win 8-10 in a row (which isn't all that hard to do.) So, they think they are the greatest HU player in the world and they play 100 or so. They end up with a temporary ROI that is higher than the #'s I just gave you, but they eventually start running average, or poor, and get bored with HU SNGs. But for the next 6 months when anybody asks about HU SNGs they will reply "they are easy, there are so many fish. Any decent player can win 66% of the time and have a 30% ROI like me." Irieguy |

[/ QUOTE ] Funny you should post this. I am new to PokerStars and have just found these things. I always thought my heads up game was the area I could improve the most, so I tried these to hone my skills. Of course, that was coming from Party where heads up is usually a push/fold situation. I really like these; they are relatively quick and you money at a higher rate which makes you feel better. I capped this off by winning the 2+2 heads up tourney last week |

Re: HU SNG ROI
I guess Sklansky recognised that he won't outplay Chan in the long run, so took his chance at winning it here with a pretty good hand hoping both his cards were live, or it was a race.

doesn't seem immediately horrible. what's the payout structure? [/ QUOTE ] I think first is 15k, second is nothing, they both advance to the next round (of 4 person SNGs), and I think the winner takes more chips to the next round than the loser. Not sure what the prize payout is in the next rounds, though. |

I guess Sklansky recognised that he won't outplay Chan in the long run [/ QUOTE ] I think there's about a 0% chance this was his reasoning. I'm sure if he figures himself to be a dog, he also thinks it's by a very slim margin. I'm also sure he feels that he is a favorite when the blinds become sufficiently high, which they probably are already. |

Re: HU SNG ROI
Either way, I think Sklansky folds too many small blinds. I hardly ever fold preflop in a Heads up match on stars. Is this a leak?

Or are you playing against people who will let you look at the flop almost always, then check to you when they miss almost always? |

So you are saying that Sklansky thinks he's a better player than the 10-time WSOP bracelet winner and Hall of Famer? |
